Wilson Gale
O'Dell
Jan 18, 1951 — Jul 15, 2025
Wilson Gale O'Dell. 74, of Nettie, passed from this earth to his heavenly father on July 15, 2025 after a long illness. He was born January 18, 1951, as the sixth child of the late Ardie and Martha Coulter O'Dell. He graduated from Richwood High School and worked as a miner all his life, but acted like a minor the rest of the time. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Jim Taylor; brother Ricky O'Dell; sister Janet Hudkins; his two grandchildren, Samuel Westfall and Brooklyn O'Dell; and his niece, Martha Humphrey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda O'Dell, his three children, Kelly Westfall(Dave), Barbara Boyce(Brian), Richard O'Dell(Melissa), and his favorite child – his dog, Sadie; his 9 grandchildren, Zachary Bennett(Paige), Emily Hollandsworth(Ryan), Sarah Bailes(Tyler), Haley Phillips(Chad), Andrew Westfall(Krista), Lillian O'Dell, Allison O'Dell, Kyndall O'Dell, and Brandon Boyce(Jamie). His 6 great grandchildren Hunter Criner, Jedidiah Bailes, Hudson Hollandsworth, Waylon Westfall, Asa Bailes, and Alice Phillips; his 3 brothers, Everett O'Dell, Roger O'Dell(Janice), Douglas O'Dell(Janet); his sister Margie Nicely(John); his 3 honorary brothers Charlie Hudkins(Cathy), John "Buck" Young(Dinah), Jim O'Dell(Rondell); and too many nieces and nephews and great friends to mention. Gale lived his life in service of his family and friends. He lived a humble and quiet existence as the mayor of O'delltown Road surrounded by the people and dog he loved the most. He has left behind a legacy of love and service for us to pass on to the next generation. He should have been the example by which the standard for men was set, he was one of the good ones and he will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday July 21st in the Nettie Baptist Church with Pastor Troy George officiating. Burial will follow in the O'Dell Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from noon until service time on Monday.
The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville is in charge of the arrangements.
