Obituary

In Loving Memory of William Emerson Minnick
Our hearts are broken as we announce the passing of William Emerson Minnick, who left this earth unexpectedly on Thursday, June 12, 2025. He was 23 days old.

Born in Charleston, West Virginia on May 20, 2025, at the same hospital where his mother Bethany was born, William Emerson was named in honor of his great-grandfather William (Pop) Minnick, whose presence and memory remain deeply woven into the fabric of the family. Some of Bethany's final maternity photos were taken at the Glen Ferris Inn, a special place often visited by Pop and his wife Betty (Grandy) when they came to West Virginia - a quiet, meaningful link between generations that now holds even deeper significance.

Emerson's life, though brief, was a testament to his mother's profound love and strength. Though his time with us was short, his impact was immeasurable. He was a beautiful, healthy baby who was growing fast and was cherished beyond measure. Bethany's recent words, "He was worth every bit of how horrible the pregnancy was," capture the depth of their bond and the fierce love she carried through every moment of her pregnancy and his life. He was perfect in every way, and his sudden passing has left a void that can never be filled.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted mother, Bethany Minnick; grandparents: Anne (Nana) and Mike (Pop Pop) Minnick; godmother: Rebecca (Aunt Becca) Minnick Garrett (Andy); and a loving circle of aunts and uncles: Daniel Minnick (Kristin), Jonathan Minnick (Jericha), Sarah Minnick Jacobs (Brandon), Miriam Minnick Taylor (Matt), Nathaniel Minnick (Nikol), Andrew Minnick (Morgan), and Grace Minnick Morris (Jared). He is also survived by 16 cousins (and counting) who will miss the chance to know him.

Family and friends are invited to a service to celebrate Emerson's life on Friday, June 20, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville. Burial will follow at the Walker Memorial Park in Summersville. A viewing will be held prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.

In honor of Emerson, the family invites guests to wear a small orange accessory, such as a ribbon, pin, or bracelet, as a symbol of remembrance and love. Bethany welcomes children of all ages to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund to honor Emerson's memory and support Bethany through this difficult time. Donations can be made at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-of-baby-emerson

Rest gently, Emerson. You were, and always will be, so deeply loved.
