Obituary

Rixey William Yarber, 71, entered his eternal rest on Tuesday December 14, 2021, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

He was born to the late James Dean and Betty Frances Yarber in Charleston, WV on July 21, 1950. Rixey was a retired coal miner, having worked many years at Peerless Eagle Coal Company, and an avid outdoorsman.  On December 6, 1967, he married Camilla Smallwood, and they raised their family in Summersville.

In addition to his wife, Rixey is survived by his sister Diane Hermanson of NC, and uncle Allan Graham, his children, Angie and Jeff  Kesecker, Rixey (Duke) and Connie Yarber, Jr., and Trina Johnson, grandchildren Jeffrey and Claire Kesecker, Morgan Kesecker and Andrew Bishop (fiancé) , Mason Yarber, Carrie Yarber, Ke'Ana and David Johnson and D'ray Johnson, great grandchildren Cora Kesecker and Khayson Johnson.

Per his wishes he will be cremated and a graveside memorial service will be held Saturday January 8, 2022, at 1:00pm in Mount Vernon Cemetery at Glade Creek with Wilbert Harper officiating.  The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville is in charge of the arrangements.

Rixey will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his love of hunting and fishing, and his story telling. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the WVU Children's Hospital or take a young child outside to hunt or fish.
