GLORIA  JEAN  UNDERWOOD,  73 of Canvas died Sunday February 20, 2022 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Roy Eugene and Gladys Evelyn Jones Stephenson and was born at Richwood December 21, 1948.  Gloria was raised at Gilboa and was a homemaker.

She was also preceded in death by sisters Diane Hughart and Stephanie, who died shortly after birth, and nephew Matthew Stewart, who she raised.

On September 16, 1971, she married the love of her life John M. Underwood Sr., together they raised  five children.  Melisa, John Jr., Bobby Joe, Katie and Adam.

Her pride and joy were her 9 grandchildren, 1 step granddaughter, 2 great granddaughters and

great grandson due in June.  She is also survived by an extended family and numerous friends including Loretta Rudd, who she thought of as a sister.

Gloria longed to be reunited with family members who had gone before her. She loved passing down the family history.

In keeping with her wishes, her body was cremated.  Private services will be held at a later date.

The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville was in charge of arrangements.
