Obituary

David Anthony Jarroll, 74, of Zela passed away at home on September 8, 2023.  He was born April 9, 1949 in South Charleston to Edward Lee and Janet Ferzacca Jarroll.

David was a graduate of Nicholas County High School and the West Virginia Institute of Technology where he majored in Business Management/Accounting.  He retired as the Executive Director of Nicholas Community Action Partnership where he worked closely with the staff to implement programs in Weatherization, Senior Services, and the collaboration of Head Start with the Nicholas County Board of Education.

He was best known as the Restaurant Manager of the Country Road Inn, the family owned and operated restaurant located in the home of "Mama Jarroll".  The restaurant was a popular dinner destination, serving homemade Italian specialties, with many weddings and parties held there.  His mother welcomed guests that included corporate and community leaders, state politicians, TV and movie personalities.  David ran the business: catering, scheduling, promoting fall bus tours and whitewater rafting, as well as cooking.

He was active in the community throughout his careers, recently serving on the board of directors for Seneca Health Services and the West Virginia Ministry of Advocacy and Workcamps, and as a volunteer at the Bread of Life Food Pantry and the Nicholas County Relay for Life.

He enjoyed planning and cooking meals for his family and friends, often giving "how-to" tips or offering advice on a recipe when asked.  He could often be found "car shopping," watching hummingbirds, discussing current events, or reminding family to buy their lottery tickets.  His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by all.

David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dr. Edward Jarroll.  He is survived by his wife, Lauren; brother George; sister Cathy (Larry) Price; sisters-in-law Robin (Tony) Sarno, Jodi (Larry) Barlow; mother-in-law Jean Strand; and cousins Mary Frances Clarke, Jim (Brenda) Dress, Melinda (Rick) Cook, and David (Cathy) Dress.  "Uncle Dave" was loved by his nephews and nieces:  Brett, Christopher, Amy, Ariane, Andre, Quinn, and especially great-nephews Shane and Maxim.

The family wishes to thank the paramedics of Jan-Care and Redi-Care who attended to David this year.  You are welcome to share your favorite "Dave Story" as we celebrate his life with fellowship at the Summersville Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday October 21, 2023.  A graveside service for the family will follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's memory to the Bread of Life Food Pantry, 427 Water St., Summersville, WV 26651 or WVMAW, P.O. Box 18200, South Charleston, WV 25303.

The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville was in charge of arrangements.
