BARBARA  LOU  SMALLWOOD,  87 of Calvin, passed away Tuesday April 9,2024 at the Clay County Health Care Center.  She was the daughter of the late Lillian Nettles and was born at Persinger June 20,1936.  Barbara was a homemaker and worked at the Calvin post office for 29 years.  She was also a representative for Achievers Vitamins and Mary Kay cosmetics. Barbara was a Christian and member of the Little Union Baptist Church at Calvin, where she enjoyed helping with vacation Bible School as well as other church activities. She loved gardening, canning and doing anything connected with the outdoors.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Smallwood, who she married in 1955.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday April 13th in the Waters Funeral Chapel at Summersville with Pastor Shawn Frame officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Glade Creek. Friends may call at the funeral chapel one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
